Qualifications & Experience

To excel as a Utility Service Locator in Perth, you’ll need:

  • DBYD Certified Locator or willingness to complete the certification (provided for international candidates upon arrival in Perth).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • First Aid Certification (Workplace and CPR) – preferred but not essential.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • White Card.
  • Preferred but not essential:
    • Western Power Network Induction.
    • ATCO Approved Locator Certification.
    • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Training.
    • APA Permit Issue Officer Certification.
    • Confined Spaces and Gas Atmosphere Training.

Tasks & Responsibilities

As a Utility Service Locator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Safety Leadership: Demonstrate a safety-first mindset through thorough planning, risk assessments, and control implementation.
  • Client Consultation: Collaborate with Engineers, Site Supervisors, and Project Managers to align on project goals and risk management.
  • Utility Location: Utilize ELM, GPR, and related tools to deliver accurate service location clearances.
  • Problem Solving & Mapping: Work with technical experts to overcome challenges, map constructed areas, and ensure precision in utility location.
  • Strikeless Delivery: Conduct final risk assessments to deliver flawless project handovers.
  • HSE Compliance: Attend monthly HSE Toolbox meetings and training programs to stay current on industry standards.
