Required Skills & Experience

To do well in this position, you’ll need:

  • DBYD Locator certification, or a willingness to complete it once you arrive in Perth

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar locating role

  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

  • A Construction White Card

  • First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred)

Additionally, the following qualifications are useful but not essential:

  • Western Power Induction

  • ATCO Approved Locator status

  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) training

  • APA Permit Issue Officer training

  • Confined Spaces and Gas Atmosphere certification


What You’ll Be Doing

Your work will help keep major projects safe and efficient. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities to apply your locating skills. Tasks include:

  • Leading with safety by planning, assessing risks, and applying correct controls

  • Working closely with Engineers, Supervisors, and Project Managers

  • Using ELM, GPR, and similar equipment to locate underground services

  • Solving on-site challenges and creating accurate maps

  • Carrying out final risk assessments to ensure strikeless delivery

  • Attending monthly HSE toolbox meetings and training sessions

Salary, Benefits & Lifestyle

This role offers strong financial rewards and long-term stability. You will receive:

  • $42–$50 per hour + 12% Superannuation + overtime at 1.5x / 2.5x / 3x rates

  • Annual income of approximately $250,000–$300,000 (Highest annualised wages in the industry)

  • Quarterly and annual bonuses

  • Visa sponsorship (SID Visa) for eligible overseas candidates
